How to Reduce your Electricity Bill

Take heed of these tips to lower your power costs.

  • Cut back on bright lighting.
  • Select fluorescent lightbulbs over incandescent ones.
  • Reduce the amount of time you spend using energy-intensive appliances, including washing machines, air conditioners, electric heaters, water pumps, and microwaves.
  • Use as little electricity as possible between 6 and 10 p.m.
  • Maintain the temperature of the air conditioner at 26 degrees at all times.
  • In industrial settings, use machinery that consumes less energy.
  • Make sure you are using high-grade wiring cables.
  • After mobile devices are fully charged, unplug the chargers.
  • Examine the possibility of installing Time of Day (TOD) or Time of Use (TOU) meters.

Install TOU/TOD meter

Variable prices per unit are offered by TOU/TOD meters during peak and off-peak hours. Reducing the amount of energy used during peak hours will save your FESCO bill. You can request a new connection from FESCO or a modification to your current connection if your current meter does not have TOU/TOD functionality.
